In the decision making process of picking that perfect new addition to your family, not only is there the breed decision but the sex decision. Do I want a boy or do I want a girl? Should it really matter or are the benefits to one or the other? Well, the answer is that there are benefits and disadvantages to both. The real question is who the new pet will pick to “belong” to. Some breeds pick one individual in the family and make that lasting connection with that one person. In most cases a male dog will pick a female human, and vice verse. So if you want to stack the cards in your favor so to speak it is best to choose a puppy of the opposite sex as yourself. Even though this is not a guarantee it does help you to have a pet that could end up choosing you over your spouse/significant other. And lets face it, it really is the pet that chooses us even though we are the one that brings them home.
