The breed known as the Australian Shepherd is a type of working
dog that was developed in the Western United States. A lot of
people are shocked to hear that, because they think that
Australian Shepherds come from Australia. The truth of the matter
is that they only got that name, because they are associated with
the sheepherders that came to the United States of American from
Australia, but these are two different types of dogs. After World
War II, the Australian Shepherd became very popular in the United
States, and one reason for this was because of a few Disney movie
that was made, featuring this breed of dog in it. These dogs have
been used on farms for many years because of their versatility,
however, a lot of them are just used as house dogs nowadays. Keep
in mind that these dogs do have a lot of energy and a lot of
drive. Most of the time, they are not happy unless they have some
kind of work to do.
