The Basset Hound will weigh between 40 to 60 pounds as an adult. They tend to be lazy overeaters, though daily walks will help to keep their weight under control. Their short, dense coat sheds heavily. However, frequent brushing will keep the shedding under control. Basset Hound puppies are naturally well behaved, though they can be prone to howling and barking. They are lazy and affectionate, and love children and other animals. Basset Hounds are sometimes crossed with the Golden Retriever to create the Bassatriever.
