The beagle is a breed of dog that looks a lot like the Foxhound, however, it does have shorter legs, and very long and soft ears. This is a member of the hound group, and they have been used for hunting for many years. In fact, beagles are scent hounds. These dogs were developed to pretty much hunt things like rabbits. These dogs have a keen sense of smell, but right now, they are not used for hunting as much as they use to be. People use to only see these dogs as only hunting dogs, but now it is more common to just see them as family dogs. In fact, they are becoming a very popular dog nowadays because of their size and, of course, their very even temper. Since the days that they started to become popular family dogs they have been featured in a lot of literature. In fact, many people know them from the comic strip called the Peanuts. In this comic book, you can see the world's most famous beagle, Snoopy.
