Coton de Tulears
One dog that was developed in Madagascar as a type of companion dog was the Coton de Tulear. This is a small bred dog that is very playful. This dog is very friendly, and that is the reason why it is a companion dog. This is one of those dogs that will stick by your side all the time. When you think of Madagascar, you may think of an area that is hot (because it does get very warm there), however, this does not keep this dog from having a very long coat of hair. Most dogs that live in hotter places like Madagascar, tend to have shorter hair. However, this is a dog that does not like following the rules of normal dogs. The funny thing about this dog is that it can tell when a person is happy. When a person starts laughing, the dog gives off a lot of fun grunts to let you know that it is pleased with how happy you are. However, this dog tends to love people too much. In fact, these dogs are known for having very bad separation anxiety. So bad that if you are gone for just a day, this dog will get sick and not eat dog pedigree. They tend to just sit around when you are gone, and some people say that the dog will cry 90% of the time that you are gone.
