The German Shorthaired Pointer is a dog breed that actually was developed in the 1800. As you may have been able to guess by the name, it was a dog that was bred in Germany as a hunting dog. This dog is one of the most amazing hunting dogs, because it was bred to be both a family dog, as well as a great hunter. Thus, it has a very different personality. It is both bold and intelligent, as well as very affectionate. It is very different to see a hunting dog be this affectionate. However, this is a trait that can be seen in the German Shorthaired Pointer puppies as soon as they are born. These German Shorthaired Pointers have been around a long time now, and they have not changed much. This is because they were developed perfectly the first time around.
Some traits that you will not find in them while buying a German Shorthaired Pointer for sale or German Shorthaired Pointer puppies for sale would be things like shyness and aggression. This is a dog that loves humans; even ones that are not its master. It's also for that reason why these dogs do not make good watch dogs at all. They are such sweet dogs that they are great with children. Pretty much these dogs love any kind of interaction with humans. They have so much energy that they can get love from all of their human family members and still want more. Most of the time this dog gets along great with other animals as well. However, from time to time they can get into a dog fight. This is just something that happens between animals. It is much more likely to see it attack another dog than it is to see it attack a human.
The only thing to keep in mind is that this is a hunting dog. So if you are going to have other animals, make sure they are big animals. This dog is made to hunt small game, so things like cats and rabbits could be in danger when you leave the house during the day. If you are willing to work with the dog, however, it can learn the difference between prey and a family pet. This is a dog that wants to be loved by humans. So if it does something that you are displeased with (like killing the family cat), then it is going to feel very down. This is an independent breed, but at the same time, it still wants your love.
This is a dog that needs exercise. After all, German Shorthaired Pointers are hunting dogs. Keep that in mind before you get one. You are going to have to take it on walks and whatnot. If you do not give your German Shorthaired Pointer the exercise that it needs, then it will become very destructive. Overall, this is a great family dog that wants and needs your support. If you have ever see one of these dogs, then you understand how much human interaction means to it. If you are a person that is going to be gone all day long, then this is not the dog for you.
