Irish Setters

The Irish Setter, which in Irish is called the Madra rua (which stands for red dog), can also be known as the Red Setter. No matter what you choose to call this amazing dog, Irish Setters are gun dogs and, of course, great family dogs. Since Irish Setter dogs are also so easy to train, they do well as show dogs as well. Today we are going to talk a little bit more about the Irish Setter, as well as Irish Setter puppies. After that, we are going to get into some health issues these dogs have.

Irish Setter dogs, are a very active breed. You can see this in Irish Setter puppies when they are first born. If you choose to get one of these kinds of dogs, you will notice that they have to have daily long walks. Not only that, but most Irish Setters also need to be able to run around (not on a chain) so that they can run wide open. Owning one of these dogs is a good idea, but you have to have plenty of space for it to move around it. Thus, living next to a field or some place like that is a good idea.

When you buy Irish Setter for sale or Irish Setter puppies for sale  you will find they love to run, they love to work. This is one of the few dog breeds that is happier when you give it a job to do. Sure, this may sound kind of funny, but it's the truth. When they do not have something that they are suppose to be doing, they tend to get bored. When a dog gets bored, it tends to get destructive. This is not a good combo. However, just because this dog loves to work, does not mean that it's always going to listen to you. In fact, whenever the dog is playing, it has a tendency to play deaf when you give it a command. If it has something else that it would rather be doing, it will let you know about it.

Although a lot of people think that Irish Setter puppies are stupid naturally, this is not the case. They are highly intelligent dogs that just love to be around people. However, just because they are smart, does not meant that they do not have a list of other problems that come with them. For example, this dog is well known to get hip dysplasia dog disease. Not only that, but it tends to get progressive retinal atrophy quite often as well. Some other problems would be things like gastric torsion (also known as bloating), epilepsy and, of course, entropion. Now, you may notice that a lot of these dog health problems can be found in other dogs as well. Thus, this is not a dog that suffers alone. These are all common things that have to be looked out for whenever you own a dog.

In the end, the Irish Setter is an amazing dog that can do amazing things. If you have been looking for a great family dog, then this could be the one you want. They have a great quality to them that is hard to find in every dog.
