The Silky Terrier breed, also sometimes called the Australian Silky Terrier breed, is known to be a house dog. In fact, they are also known to be a lap dog. That is because these Silky Terriers have a very strong attachment to their families, meaning that anyone that is looking for an affectionate dog, this is the dog for you! Although these dogs are friendly, there are a few things that you should know about Silky Terriers. Silky Terrier dogs are very friendly, and they get along with everyone in the family. However, when they first meet a new person, you will see that they become slightly aloof around new people. Of course, this is something that they get over very quickly and will soon welcome new people into their homes within seconds. They do make a great watch dog because of their great hearing ability, but they do not make a good guard dog, because they do not wish to attack anyone.
The crazy thing about the Silky Terrier is that it was made to be a lap dog. Unlike other terriers that have a rougher, wire coat, this is one that is soft to the touch and a bit smaller. Thus, they can easily st up in your lap, much like a cat would. The only problem that you might have out of them is the fact that these dogs tend to want to sit in your lap every time you sit down! So pretty much, what that means is that you will have to train the dog not to do that, if it's something you do not like!

Silky Terrier puppies take very easily to new types of training and are pretty easy to get along with. They are very sensitive to voice tone, and they never need a good beating. These are dogs that can become very depressed if they feel that you are even a little bit upset with their performance or their actions. If they do something that you do not like, you can bet that it's very unlikely that what they did will ever happen again.

These are dogs that live to make you happy, and that is the kind of dog that a lot of people are looking for.
