Affenpinschers
The Affenpinscher is a small dog, measuring 10-15 inches and weighing 7-8 pounds, with a dark black, dark gray, tan or red coat. They have a curious nature and can become easily bored, but they are quite easy to train. Affenpinschers are athletic dogs who love hiking and camping with their masters, providing the weather is not too cold. Affenpinschers make wonderful companions, but are not recommended for homes with small children, and if brought into a home with other pets, will require a socialization period. These are fearless dogs and have been known to attack animals much larger than them, often resulting in injury. Affenpinschers are suited to life in an apartment, and small homes with tiny yards will suffice. The Affenpinscher bears a close resemblence to the Brussels Griffon and, although there is sparse data regarding the origin of the Affenpinscher, there is speculation that the two are closely related. It is thought that the Affenpinscher originated in Germany sometime in the seventeenth century and its name is derived from the German word affe, meaning monkey ("Monkey Dog" is a nickname for this breed). It is thought that this dog is also an ancestor of the Miniature Schnauzer. This breed was used to remove rodents from small kitchens, stores and stables, and as a companion dog. It was granted purebred status by the AKC in 1936.This breed is an extremely light shedder, but can be difficult to groom and it is recommended employing the aid of a professional. Affenpinschers are prone to eye irritation caused by hair growing into them, so frequent trims in this area is required. These dogs should be brushed weekly.
Affenpinschers
Affenpinschers are generally healthy but have an average lifespan of 11.4 years, slightly shorter than other dogs of similar size. They generally do not suffer from many of the classic dog diseases, but because of their short noses, they sometimes have difficulty breathing in hot weather. They are also prone to hip dysplasia and have been known to suffer from a collapsed trachea, which can be avoided by walking the dog with a harness as opposed to a collar so keep in mind when purchasing an Affenpinschers for sale
Affenpinschers are extremely playful dogs and require variety in their dog training. They will not be happy chained up outside all day - these are family pets. Affenpinschers have an instinctive desire to run and chase things, and under exercised Affenpinschers can become moody and destructive.
