Anatolian Sheperd Dogs

The Anatolian Shepherd dog is a dog that comes from Turkey. This is actually a dog that was bred to be the guardian of sheep. This shepherd dog was trained to not only to keep things like wolves away, but bears, jackals, and even cheetahs! As you may have been able to guess, the Anatolian Shepherd dog was developed to be forceful and, of course, independent. This is not always a great combo for a dog to have. Now we are going to go over some of the reasons why Anatolian Shepherd dogs are very hard to raise. Some dog lovers may find that they want to stand clear of this dog.

The Anatolian Shepherd dog puppies for sale learn fast. So you do not have much time to be able to train them before they get very set in their ways. These dogs do not always make the best companion, because they are so independent. Also, they are so smart that they can very quickly choose if they want to obey you or not. Since this dog is so independent, it's easy to guess that most of the time they choose not to obey you. It's for these reasons, why the Anatolian Shepherd dog is not a dog for beginners or people who are shy. If you are, then this is a dog that will run all over you. On top of all of this, this is a dog that will kill a bear if it has to protect its sheep. If this dog can kill a bear, then you have to know how fast and swift this dog is. Not only that, but how very powerful this dog is as well.

There was a survey done to see just how long these dogs are suppose to live. As it turned out, the Anatolian Shepherd dog usually never makes it to see its 11th birthday. Although that may seem like a very short life, it's actually a pretty long life when you look at how big they are. In fact, most dogs their size only live to be about 6 or 8. Thus, these dogs are going to outlive most dogs that are their size. Of course, the funny thing about the death of these dogs is not that they died mostly from old age, but they died mostly from cancer. Almost 22% of all these dogs died from cancer. Only about 13% of them ever die because of old age. A few of them (about 17%) died from a combination of the two having bad dog health. This is something one needs to consider while buying an Anatolian Shepherd dog for sale.

This is a dog that does not really make the best house dog. This is a big dog, and it likes to be outside. This is a dog that is going to be a lot happier if you give it a job to do. There is nothing wrong with keeping these dogs as a pet, it can be done. However, you have to understand that it's going to take a lot more dog obedience training than most dogs to get this one under control. It's not so much that they hate people, but they do not like to be told what to do, and they are not afraid to show it needing to be aware of dog biting.
