Australian Terriers

The Australian Terrier is a rather small dog, standing only about 25 centimeters in height. Most of the time this dog will only weigh about 7 kilograms, which is just about the size of a big cat. This is a very low set dog and has a very long length for the size of its body. This is something that you can see in the Australian Terrier puppies for sale when you go to buy them. The tail for the Australian Terriers is very high, and is not docked anymore in Australia. Just like the body, the head of the Australian Terrier is very elongated. The eyes for the Australian Terrier are very small and very dark. Sometimes their eyes even have an oval shape to them. Of course, that is a trait that can be seen in just about all Terriers, not just the Australian Terrier.

The coat that the Australian Terrier has is very rough and is not very nice to touch. However, the undercoat for the dog is very soft. Even with having two coats, the Australian Terriers shed very little hair, which makes them good inside dogs. There are tons of colors that you can find this dog in, including blue, red, tan, and even a sandy color as stud dogs.

Something else that is nice to note if you plan to buy the Australian Terriers for sale is that they are a companionship dog. They want to be with their owners all the time. If you are going to go out for a walk, this is a dog that is going to want to go with you. Even though its legs are short and its going to have to take a lot more steps than you, it is going to have no problems keeping up. Not only that, but it can go on long walks without getting too tired.

The very first Australian Terrier was said to be bred in 1497 by a man name Loro Morin. The sad part to this story is that Miss Morin was sad to be crazy, and they took her dog from her in 1502. Although no one knows what happen to her after that, it is said that she was jailed for the rest of her life for smuggling large sums of money.

The Australian Terriers were the first native bred dogs in Australia to be shown overseas. Although no one knows for sure what ancestors this dog has, it is said to be linked somehow to the Scottish Terrier.

This is a great dog that makes a great friend. They like to be close to their owners all the time. In fact, these dos have been known to get very depressed if they go without seeing their master for a long time span. If you are going to get one of these kinds of dogs, then you have to make sure that you are going to be able to spend a lot of time with it. These dogs want to be around you just as much as you are going to want to be around it. This is a dog that is very into showing affection, so do not be shocked to get a lot of dog kisses and affectionate dog bites from it.
