Beaucerons
Another type of herding breed is the Beauceron. This is a dog that was bred for the sole purpose of herding animals on the farm. Most of the time these dogs can be found in Paris, France. In fact, many people still call this dog a French Short Haired Shepherd. Although these dogs use to be only as herding dogs, they have come a long way. A lot of people are starting to see that the Beaucerons actually make very good family dogs as well. These dogs can be described as being very intelligent, as well as being very muscular. The Beaucerons may be big dogs, but because they are so easy to train, they can be used as both indoor and outdoor dogs. If you are going to train Beaucerons, you might as well start off with buying and training Beauceron puppies for sale. That is because the earlier you start dog training any one of these kinds of dogs, the better.
Not only do the Beaucerons make great family dogs, but they are very calm and protective of children. These dogs just seem to know that children are our babies, and they must watch over them. Much like a herding dog watching its flock, a lot of times these dogs will sit up on a deck and watch the kids play in the back yard. If they see a kid get in trouble or the kid yells, the dog comes running. There have been many stories where a kid would come across a snake and this dog would come to the rescue. These dogs always do the same thing. First they bark to let you know something is wrong, and then they go take care of the problem theirself. Afterwards, they aways go and check on the child to make sure it's fine. The dog is usually looking for a pat on the head to let it know that everything is fine now.
Beaucerons are a standard size dog. Most of the time they are about 25 to 27 inches tall. They can weigh in at 67 to 84 pounds. Most of these dogs come in standardized colorings of black and tan. However, there are some other ones that are more of a gray color. However, this is a color that is now banned from the breed standard. The hair on this dog is pretty short, and that is good, because it keeps them from shedding too much. Something cool about a Beauceron that you may want to know is the fact that they do have dew claws. Some owners will remove these claws if they are going to be out in the field hunting. However, if they are going to be in competition, then they will need these claws to win, so keep in mind if you have purchased Beaucerons for sale.
This is a breed that likes to herd, but it likes to be with its people more. They are pretty easy to train, but keep in mind that sometimes it will find something more interesting to do when you give it its come command. This is something that may be able to be worked out with the dog over time. In fact, many dogs have this kind of problem.
