There are a lot of large dogs out there that are strong that love to help people, but none of them love to help people as much as the Bernese Mountain Dog. This is a dog that can stand about 28 inches tall and can have upto 120 pounds. Now that is a bid dog! You can always pick Bernese Mountain dogs out of a line up, because of their very distinctive three color pattern they have going on. Their neck, legs, body, head, and their ears are usually solid black. Their cheeks and stockings, however, are usually a rust color. Then when looking at their chest, muzzle and tail, you will notice that these parts of them are white. A lot of breeds tend to differer in their color, but not the Bernese Mountain dogs. No matter if you get a male Bernese Mountain dog or a female Bernese Mountain dog, you are going to notice right away that they are amazingly strong. This is a trait in them that does not differ at all. It is for this reason, that the Bernese Mountain dogs are outdoor dogs. However, you can bring them inside, because they are very well behaved. Of course, if they are going to be inside dogs, they still need to have a lot of outdoor activities and, of course, exercise. Although these dogs are big, they can run very fast when they have a reason to. If there is no problem with the dog (health wise), then they love to go hiking with you, and will stick close to their people in case their people need help. They are a very noble dogs.

The temperament of the Bernese Mountain dog is, of course, their most strongest trait. They are very loyal and very affectionate. They are also very faithful to their owners, and they are more intelligent than most dogs. The dog has a very friendly personally. They get along with, pretty much, all animals, and they love people. In fact, these dogs have even been known to treat cats with respect and watch out for the cat. There have been many stories told where a Bernese Mountain dog has seen their "family" cat being attacked by another animal, and the Bernese Mountain dog will come to the rescue. This is because these dogs feel the need to take care of their family.

Although the dog is smart, they do need time to think things through. This means if you have purchased a Bernese Mountain dog for sale or Bernese Mountain dog puppies for sale then, you need to know that they may need more dog obedience training than other dogs. On that same note, the Bernese Mountain dog puppies do not respond well to harsh treatment at all. Keep that in mind whenever you are training them. Like a kid that has been punished, the dog tends to lash out. Of course, they are not going to bite you, but they tend to do whatever it was that was bad again to show you that they are displeased with the way you treated them.
