Bugs
What happens when you cross-breed a Pug with a Boston Terrier? The result is a small, playful and lovable little lap dog - The Bug - a name that combines a part of the names of the other two. Not much is known when or where this cross-breeding took place, but it is generally believed that this occurred in more recent times. The most probable objective of creating a Bug was to have a dog that was small in size. This is why two other small-sized, breeds, as specified above, were used in the cross-breeding experiment. Another possible objective to create Bugs could be based on the need for a home pet that could acquire the best traits and characteristics of both dogs used in the cross-breeding.
If you are hunting for a little designer lap dog to take home, you needn't think twice about choosing a Bug. This lap dog will win your heart on first sight. Here's some basic information on Bugs.
Breed classification and recognition
The Bug is classified as a hybrid cross dog and is recognized by the American Canine Hybrid Club (ACHC) dog organization. However, it is learnt that not all designer hybrid dogs bred from two different breeds, including Bugs, are in cross-bred ratio of 50% : 50% pure breed. This is because most breeders usually breed multi-generation, crosses.
Temperament
Fortunately, a Bug enjoys the best traits and characteristics of two extremely popular home pet breeds, to whom it owes its evolution and existence - The Boston Terrier and the Pug. In this manner, Bugs are very energetic and playful, but usually after running around your home or garden, or playing with you or the kids, they'll want to curly up and sleep on your lap. Well, this is what makes them so lovable and endearing to all who own them. By and large, a Bug is a very obedient dog which makes it easy to discipline and train. However, it is advisable to go in for Bug Puppies, so that they grow up and adjust to your home perfectly. On the negative side, a Bug does not tolerate other pets at home.
Health aspects
The good news is that due to its energetic nature, a Bug generally keeps good dog health, It is the subject of inconclusive, debate that descendants of two pure bred, dogs are usually more healthy and have reduced chances if genetic dog diseases. The resultant breed acquires more hybrid vigor and is also found to be a happier dog. This is known as the `Heterosis effect a term accepted by reputed dog breeders. Even though they do not require a large space because of their size, Bugs will still require regular exercise through walks in the areas surrounding your home, or even in around the backyard. Despite its size, a Bug has a voracious appetite and will eat anything at anytime as dog diet.
If you're convinced by now that the Bug is the dog you want, go ahead and visit a reputed, legitimate breeder and pick up a Bug for sale or Bug Puppies for sale.
