Chinese Foo Dogs
No matter what kind of breed you are looking at, its legend is always based on some truth. Even myth stories have some truth to them. This just so happens to be the case with the Chinese Foo dog. This is a dog, that many Americans have come to know as the "lions" that sit out in front of many Chinese restaurants. Those "lions" are actually made to look like the Chinese Foo dogs that were considered guard dogs for many temples. These are dogs that have been given many dog names over the course of their life. In fact, many people know the Chinese Foo dogs as the sacred dog. However, they have also been called the Chinese Lung, Chinese Temple Forest Dog, and the Chinese Choo Hunting Dog. All of these names are linked back to the Chinese Foo Dog.
Now the question is, where did the Chinese Foo dog come from? Well, the legend goes that this was a dog that originated from crossing the Chow Chow with the European hunting dogs. However, another legend goes on to say that the Chinese Foo dogs comes from breeding the Chinese Wolf with the Chow Chow. The only thing that both of these stories have in common is the fact that they both agree that the Chow Chow is one of the dogs needed to make these dogs. For many years, the Chinese Foo dog was said to be wiped out. However, recently, a small group of them have been discovered living in China. Thus, using these dogs, the breed is starting to make a come back.
Most people know that the Chinese Foo dog was used as a kind of watchdog. However, what a lot of people do not know, is the fact that it was also a very talented herding dog as well. Later on the Chinese Foo dogs where also used as sled dogs. It really was one of those breeds that could do it all. The Chinese Foo dog puppies came out looking a lot like chow chows. Of course, as they grew up, they started to take on other traits as well. Since these dogs were such good watch dogs, they use to use these dogs to guard the Chinese temples. Today, that is why you see a lot of Chinese buildings with a Chinese Foo dog standing out in front of it (a fake one, of course).
More facts you need to know before you buy a Chinese Foo dog for sale or Chinese Foo dog puppies for sale is that it is a very alert and agile creature. Even for being so big and strong, this dog can move faster than most dogs. They are very active and very bold as well. That is why a lot of people find it hard to believe that this dog is also very friendly. These dogs make a great devoted family pet, but they do have a lit of independence to them. Something else that these dogs are well known for (which they get from the Chow Chow) is the blue black tongue. This is a tongue that even sometimes has a purple look to it. Many people love to see the tongue of these creatures, because they believe that it brings them good luck.
