Iceland Dogs

Although the Iceland dog is not really a small dog at all, it does act a lot bigger than what it is. Thus, a lot of people call the Iceland dogs big dogs in little bodies. They think that they can take on anything and anyone at anytime. The Iceland dog (sometimes called the Icelandic Sheepdog) is part of the Spitz dog family. It was brought to Iceland by Vikings many years ago. If you have ever seen the Norwegian Buhund, then you will know that it is much like that dog. These dogs are actually used to herd sheep, and, thus, that makes them sheepdogs. This is a very tough dog that can handle the cold winters of Iceland. Although Iceland stays a lot warmer than Greenland, it is still cold there during the winter.

The Iceland dogs are very energetic. In fact that is something that you can see in their puppies as well. In fact, the Iceland dog puppies are well known to bark just to have fun. They also use this dog bark to help herd the livestock or help drive them. This is a dog that will nip the back of the livestock's heel, but it barks more than it bites. This is a dog, as you may know, that is very smart. A lot of times they can drive sheep over the mountains without losing one. That is because the sheep seem to learn the sound of the dogs bark. Thus, if a sheep gets lost, the dog starts barking and the sheep finds its way back. Not only that, but to be a herding dog, you have to be very alert. This is something that the Iceland dog does very well. This is a dog that will always give visitors a very enthusiastic welcome when they come over. The welcome is not too over the top or too aggressive, but they will let you know that they are happy that you are there. They are also a dog that has a strong hunting instinct.

If you have purchased the Iceland dog for sale or Iceland dog puppies for sale you will see it is a dog that can do it all. They love to play, and they love to work. This is a dog that will sometimes put play ahead of work, so keep that in mind. They also love to be loved. These are very soft dogs and almost feel like a stuffed animal when you hug them, making it a child's favorite dog. The good news is that this dog does very good with children. Keeping that in mind, you can leave your child and your other pets home alone with this dog. It is as if this dog adores children (of course, this is more so with the female children). This is one dog you can count on to give you a good time. They love to play, and they are going to want you to love to play. So if you are looking for a man's best friend, you are going to find it in Iceland dogs. They love people, and they are a dog that is not afraid to show it.
