Komondors

The Komondor (also known as the Hungarian Sheepdog and the Hungarian Komondor) is a magnificent-looking dog, easily identified by its corded coat white coat which normally hangs 8-11 inches. The Komondor's coat allows the dog to blend in with the sheep it is guarding. Measuring at least 26 inches and weighing up to 125 pounds, these dogs are hard working, confident and territorial. Komondors will fearlessly defend their families and their home and can be aggressive with strange people and other animals. Komondors are not recommended for everyone, because they have strong guarding instincts that are difficult to curb. They are happiest when they are provided with a job, preferably on a farm or large property of land. If socialized early and trained diligently as a pup, Komondors can make wonderful family pets, however, getting them to this stage requires a lot of time and effort. Komondors require dominant masters.

The Komondor can live in an apartment but is happier in a home with a large yard. One thing to keep in mind is that undisciplined Komondors have a loud dog bark and they aren't afraid to use it, which may not be appreciated by neighbours in nearby apartments. Under exercised and under stimulated Komondors can become destructive, moody and/or lazy, so Komondors should be walked two to three times a day. Surprisingly, the unique coat of a Komondor requires little grooming. Owner who wish to achieve the corded look should never brush or comb the hair, which is divided into cords. The cord will need the occasional trim, and will require a lot of bathing, which will take a long time to dry. This breed is an extremely light shedder.

The Komondor was brought to Hungary in the 11th century by Nomads to guard sheep. Komondors made their debut in dog shows in the 1920s, and remain prominent dog show participants. Komondors are common dogs in Hungary, and they are often employed to guard live stock in the United Stated, but the Komondor is relatively rare everywhere else in the world.

Komondors

If you are planning to buy Komondor Puppies for sale or Komondor for sale you need to know they are generally healthy, but some are prone to hip dysplasia and some bloodlines suffer from bloat and skin dog diseases. The dog's heavy coat can be attractive to external parasites, so skin checkups should be incorporated into the grooming routine. This is a versatile breed that can live happily in a variety of weather conditions. The average lifespan for a Komondor is 11 years. Komondors are wonderfully loyal in nature and will fearlessly take on, and often win against, much larger opponents like bear and wolf.

Komondor Puppies

Because of the Komondor's strong guarding instincts, socialization is imperative. Group puppy training classes are strongly recommended as they will allow your puppy to become aquainted with others and will provide your dog with professional dog obedience training. Kepp your dog restrained around strangers until you are sure the dog can be trusted. Komondor Puppies may exert dominant behaviour (and even attack) other animals if he feels they pose a threat When properly trained and developed, Komondors make wonderful family pets.
