Labradoodles
Well, this may not be a new crossbred of dogs, but to a lot of people have never heard of a Labradoodle. The Labradoodle is a cross between exactly what it sounds like, a Labrador Retriever and a Poodle (it seems like a lot of dogs get crossbred with the Poodle). The Labradoodle was first bred in 1989 to make a guide dog that would be great for people that had a lot of allergies. The goal was to breed a dog that had the gentleness of the Labrador (as well as the training ability) and the low shed coat of the Poodle. You put these two needs together, and you get the Labradoodles. These dogs are used mostly by the blind and are great for blind people that have a problem with fur or dander.
It's very important to note that the Labradoodle is still a new breed compared to how long other breeds have been around. Thus, the Labradoodle is still developing. There is no true breed for them yet. There characteristics are not yet predictable all the time. For example, they may have the desired traits mentally, but their coats are not always working out the way they should. Sometimes instead of getting the Poodles fur coat, they get a long haired Labrador coat. Right now you can expect to find Labradoodle for sale or Labradoodle puppies for sale in dog stores that have hair that is soft and some that is wiry. You can find it straight, wavy, and some times curly. Although these dogs are made not to shed, some still do. However, they do shed less than a normal Labrador Retriever and usually have less oders that come with them. These are all kinds of things that you can tell about this dog when they are still puppies. The Labradoodle puppies are well known for showing off their adult traits pretty early in life.
Although the breed is still not finished, a lot of people are already looking high and low for a Labradoodle. That is because these dogs are known for being good family dogs too. Although not all of them are 100% ready to be guide dogs, they are all ready to be family dogs. Some of these dogs have worked out just the way people wanted them to, making them great dogs for the blind. However, the others are not and have to find other homes. They are very easy to train and love families. They are great with kids, because they are very forgiving dogs. However, just like any breed of dog, you have to watch your children around them, because anything could happen.
If you want a family dog that is going to lighten up your day, then the Labradoodle is for you. This is a dog that is going to make your day every time you come home. This dog gets very happy to see people. However, they do seem to get hot fast, and they can get hot just sitting inside. This is because some of their coats are so long. Either way you look at it, these dogs are perfect for family use. Someday soon maybe all these dogs will be ready to work for the blind.
