Who'd think that a Labrador Retriever, once an outdoor dog, bred to hunt and retrieve game, would make such a friendly and faithful pet indoors. The fact is, Labrador Retrievers are just that. Over the past decade, this breed of dog has become extremely popular among families and the single reason, why so many are buying Labrador Retriever Puppies for sale or Labrador Retriever for sale, is because of its unique friendliness, intelligence and non-aggressive, nature. Moreover, it enjoys human company and loves to be around children. No wonder it has earned the label - `the true family dog'.
Physical features - One of the outstanding characteristics of a Labrador Retriever, is its short, thick and weather-resistant coat of hair. Other distinguishing features include an `otter', tail as some people describe it, a large head, broad skull and powerful jaws. However, one of the most loved features of Labrador Retrievers is its friendly, expressive eyes.

This is because they have a good temperament, expressive character and possess a high degree of intelligence. Moreover, they are extremely gentle in their ways and can adapt to any environment, especially homes. Living with Labrador Retrievers - A Labrador Retriever is intelligent and learns fast. Apart from this, it is a very energetic breed of dog and needs a lot of exercise. Therefore, owners of this pet must ensure that they take them for regular walks and give them adequate space to run and play. Being friendly and with their affinity to humans, Labrador Retrievers need a lot of attention. Therefore, they will be happy to have you pet, play and shower love on them frequently. As a Labrador Retriever yearns for human interaction regularly, dog owners would be advised to have a friend or person over to keep it company, when they are on vacation.

For a pure bred, Labrador Retriever, they can get one, at the many centers that are devoted to breeding Labrador Retrievers. One note of caution however, is that Retrievers are prone to elbow and hip dysplasia - the latter affects the joints of the Labrador Retriever ranging from mild to severe arthritis, which in some cases, may require surgery. Labrador Retrievers are also susceptible to eye disorders.
Today, there are so many different breeds of dogs for pet lovers to own that deciding on one can be really confusing. The general trend leans towards choosing a cute looking dog, rather than one with all-round, qualities.
