Lakeland Terriers

There are many, many Terrier types and the Lakeland Terrier is just one of the many. This is a dog that comes from the Lake District of England. This dog was bred mostly to find and kill vermin, and thus, that accounts for their small size. The actual Lakeland Terrier was actually linked back to starting in Cumberland, England, which just so happens to be around the Scottish border. It is said that this dog came about in the 1800s. For the most part, this Lakeland terrier is related to a lot of different terriers, but mostly terriers from the working class. In fact, many people still use this Lakeland Terrier in the working class today. Most people tend to think that this dog was related mostly to the Border Terrier, as well as a few others.

These dogs are very friendly and they are very bold. You put this together, and you have one confident dog. Finding a Lakeland Terrier for sale or Lakeland Terrier puppies for sale which are shy is not heard of, just like finding one that is aggressive is unheard of as well. Funny enough, even through the Lakeland Terriers are known for their courage and their harsh ways of killings prey, they are very gentle and loving dogs that make great companions. Now, do not let this dog fool you, it is very intelligent, but it's very independent minded. So whenever this dog is on the hunt, you may learn that it's not as easy to make him listen to you as you would wish. In fact, many Lakeland Terriers exhibit selective deafness. As you give commands, if they do not want to listen, then they do not listen. Nothing much you can do about it.

Now, both the Lakeland Terrier puppies and the adult ones are very friendly. However, they do not seem to understand what traffic is. You can not make these dogs watch for traffic at all. They are so brave that they just think that all traffic will stop for them. That is why it is very important to keep these dogs on a leash when you are walking them. If you do not, you may end up with a flat puppy.

If you want a dog that is going to be great to go on walks with and is going to love you no matter what, then the Lakeland terrier is for you. This dog loves people, and it loves kids. For the most part, they are easy on dog training. Just keep in mind that you are not going to make it do anything that they do not want it to do. Also, keep in mind that this dog would much rather be with you than alone. So if you are going to get one of these dogs, it's a good idea if you keep it with your more often than not. They tend to get mean when left alone too long. Either way, you look at it this is a great dog for you and your family. Just remember that it is very strong willed and may not always listen (however, there are a lot of dogs like that).
