Leonbergers

There are some big breeds of dogs out there, and the Leonberger is one of them. The Leonberger breed can weigh up to 165 pounds or more! That is one big dog! The breed gets it's name from the city of Leonberg in South West Germany. This is a dog that is very loving, although it does not look like it. This is a dog that is great with kids, even though it is a big dog. Something else that is great about these dogs is that they do not need a big house or garden to walk around in. They are very happy just living in a small house with a small backyard. They may be big, but it does not take much to please them. When these dogs sleep, they sleep curled up in a ball. Thus, they do not take up a lot of room when they sleep. That is another reason why people love Leonbergers. Finding the Leonberger for sale or Leonberger puppies for sale outside of Germany can be hard. That is why it's not a very well known breed of dog.

Although this dog does not need a lot of exercise, it does need some, just like any dog. However, a quick daily walk and some play time is all this dog needs to be happy. These dogs are very sweet and do not act aggressive. However, some of them have been known to act aggressive whenever they are treated bad when they are young. If they are raised right, however, the Leonberger is a dog that can provide great companionship and loyalty to for many years. This is a dog that has been growing in popularity ever since World War II. In fact, in Britain there are over 2,000 of these dogs registered. The sad thing about these big dogs is that they do not live very long. In fact, they say that most Leonbergers do not live to see the age of 7. Most of the time these dogs die from cancer. In fact, they say that 37% of these dogs die from cancer, which is a high percentage for dog diseases. Of course, 12% die from old age and another 11% die from heart failure or sudden death. You see that a lot in bigger dogs, because their heart is having to work a lot harder to pump blood through theire body.

Either way you go, the Leonberger is a dog that you will like to have in your family. They may not be the longest living dog that you have ever had, but while they are alive you will not find a sweeter dog. 7 years is a short lifespan for any living thing. This is a dog that is great with kids and loves to play with them. This dog is also attracted more to the female sex than the male sex. Thus, if it is given the choice, it will choose to be loved on by a female over a male. However, this dog is not too choosy when it comes to getting some loving, and it will take what it can get when it can get it.
