Miniature Pinschers
The Miniature Pinscher is a toy breed in the dog realm. This is a dog that was breed to hunt small vermin, mostly rats. The dog was small so that it could get into places that larger dogs could not. This dog is usually known as the king of the toy dogs. Although it is a toy breed, a lot of people feel that it should be in the terrier breeds, because it is, in fact, one of the oldest terrier breeds alive. The only places in the world that have the Miniature Pinscher in the toy breed and not the Terrier breed is North American and the United Kingdom. In other places around Europe (like places native to Germany) they classify this dog as a Terrier for that is what it really is.
Whenever you see the Miniature Pinscher for sale or Miniature Pinscher puppies for sale, you will know right away that this is a very playful and energetic dog. You can also tell from looking at the Miniature Pinscher puppies that the dog grows up to be very friendly, and it thrives on owner love. Normally this is a dog that does good when it is in a one to two person family. So couples without kids usually find themselves doing very well with a Miniature Pinscher. However, if integrated into families, they can get along with children and pets. These dogs tend to get along great with larger dogs who view this dog as a non-threat. However, cats tend to bully Miniature Pinschers around. Thus, if you have a cat, they will not be able to be left alone together for a good while. A strong enough cat can kill even a fully grown Miniature Pinscher.
These dogs love people, but they tend to be very shy around people they do not know. On that same note, one thing that people do not like about the Miniature Pinscher is how often it does dog barking. This is a dog that will bark at everything that it feels threaten by. However, due to the dogs small size, it tends to feel threaten by just about everything! Thus, prepare yourself for a lot of barking. Although this dog is not going to scare anyone away, it is a great alert dog. If someone comes to break in the house, this dog will start barking right away. However, it does have a feeling of the boy who cried wolf. A lot of times this dog barks so much that people tend to not pay any mind to it when it starts baking. Thus, when it comes time for a real problem the dog may not be much help.
This is a dog that is going to need a lot of dog training. Although they love their owners, they tend to get themselves in a lot of trouble. Leaving them at home when you are gone can find yourself coming home to a house that is a little messy. Also, when taking it to a park, it will take every opportunity to wonder away from you. This is because it loves to hunt and it is looking for something smaller than it (like a squirrel, because there is not much more that is going to be smaller than it) to hunt.
