Neapolitan Mastiffs

Like most big dogs, the Neapolitan Mastiff is a dog that does not live very long. However, just because they do not live very long does not mean they have not been around a long time. In fact, the Neapolitan Mastiff is an ancient dog breed. It has been traced back to 168 BC, making it one of the oldest breeds to date. This massive breed was thought to once be a defender of property. These dogs are so big that the Neapolitan Mastiffs use to be used in the Colosseum to fight against Lions during the age of the Romans. As you can more than likely tell, the Neapolitan Mastiff is a fearless breed. In fact, they say that this is a trait that even the Neapolitan Mastiff puppies have. However, these dogs do not stay puppies for long. They live such a short life that it is almost sad to talk about.

Before you buy a Neapolitan Mastiff for sale or Neapolitan Mastiff puppies for sale you need to know that since they are guardian breed, they do not like strangers. However, if the master stays relaxed, then the dog becomes relaxed over time as well. This is a dog that usually never barks unless it is provoked. In fact, some say that a few Neapolitan Mastiffs have gone their whole life without dog barking. This even goes for the Neapolitan Mastiff puppies. Most of the time this dog does not even bark when it sees someone breaking in. These dogs are well known for sneaking up on bad people and attacking them before the person even knows that they are there. This is pretty amazing to see, because it's such a big dog to be sneaking up on people. If you want this dog to be a family dog, then you might as well go with the female Neapolitan Mastiffs. That is because they are a lot more easy going than the males. For some reason, all Neapolitan Mastiffs love children (whether they are male or female). Many say it's because the Neapolitan Mastiff is so much bigger than the kids, and they feel like they are not a threat. So far no reports have ever been made of a Neapolitan Mastiff attacking a kid.

The Neapolitan Mastiff is a dog that can get along with other pets if they are raised with them. They are well known for laying with other dogs and the other dogs using them as a pillow. If you get one of these dogs, you should get it when it's a puppy. Most of these dogs do not have many dog health problems, but they still only live to be about 7 years old. It is not very common to hear of them living longer than that. When the dog reaches ten years old it is considered to be fragile. One of the oldest Neapolitan Mastiff dogs only lived to be 12 years old. However, this should not be something that turns you off from getting one of these dogs. They are still very friendly, and they will love you until the end of their life. Most of the time these dogs do not like to be alone when they are dying (just like people). So a lot of times they will come looking for you and rest their head on your lap before they pass, just to see you one last time.
