Whenever you hear the term, the butterfly dog, what do you think of? Well you should be thinking of the Papillon. This name in French actually means butterfly. Guessing by them name you can already tell that it is a very elegant dog, and it is also a member of the toy dog family. They have very fine bone structure, and their breed is known for their large very butterfly like ears. Like most small dogs, the Papillons make great watch dogs. They tend to bark a lot. These dogs were bred for companionship, so it is easy to guess as well that they love to be around people. However, it could take the dog a little while to get to know people.
The Papillon puppies for sale and the adult Papillons for sale fit in the toy breed category in the dog stores. Anyone that has owned one of these dogs will tell you that they are big dogs in small dog suits. This means that the dog is very outgoing. Many people have found that their little Papillons can handle a five mile walk like it is nothing. Although they act rough on the outside, on the inside they are like little girl dogs. That is because they do not like getting wet. Thus, if it has rained or the grass is a little wet in the morning, will resist going outside. They do not like to see clouds in the sky, because it could lead to rain. These dogs are very smart and they know.
These dogs like to be babied. Thus, if something new happens, the Papillon will think that you are doing it for them. Thus, they are going to have to be included. These dogs must not know how small they are either. That is because they feel like they can do anything, and most of them can. They are very athletic and can jump heights that big dogs can not get to. For the most part, the Papillon is a healthy breed, and you will not have a lot of problems out of them.
These dogs love people, but remember, this dog does not think that you own it; it thinks that it owns you. So keep that in mind. These dogs think that they are letting you live in their house, so they can sometimes be a bit bossy. Either way, the dog is fun to watch and fun to play with. As the dog gets older, they tend to play less, but that can be seen in just about any dog. These dogs, as they get older, want to stay closer to their masters. Their sight is usually the first thing to go, and they have to count on their hearing and smell. Thus, they tend to get scared when they smell something new or they hear something they have never heard before. Thus, if someone new is coming over, or there is something new going on, you have to be there so it can smell and hear you. Otherwise, this dog can go into shock very fast. They act hard when they are young, but as they get older they tend to calm down.
