There are some dogs that have long hair, and then there are some dogs that look like they are meant to mop the floor. This is the case with the Sealyham Terrier. This is a dog that first came about in Wales by crossing Basset Hounds with different kinds of Terriers. The amazing thing here is that this is a dog that is not mixed with a poodle! This has to be one of the only mixed breeds in the world that is not mixed with the ever so famous poodle (in fact, the poodle may get upset). This is a dog that is, of course, made to hunt, like most dogs are. They are mostly used for hunting small game, since they are pretty small dogs. This dog is well known for being very charming and very intelligent. However, hunting is what it likes to do. So if you do not let it hunt, you better take it out so that it can play a lot.

This is a dog that is more "terrier" like than basset hound like. That being said, this dog is a little hyper. It does not like to sit around all day and just be with its people like the basset hound. This, my friends, is a dog that wants to get up and go, and go it will, with or without you. Whenever it walks outside, all you are going to notice, however, is all the twigs and sticks that get caught in it as it walks (what fun that will be to clean out). So give this dog a try. You never know; this could be the dog that you have been looking for. Sure it takes a lot of work, time, and money to take care of, but what dog doesn't.
