Shetland Sheepdogs
There are a ton of sheepdogs in the world, but one of the smallest ones is the Shetland Sheepdog. This is a type of dog that was bred on the Shetland Islands, in Scotland (if you could not tell by the name). If you have never seen the Shetland Sheepdog, it kind of looks like a Collie, but miniature. Of course, they are not a true miniature Collie at all, but they do have some of the same appearances. Like most sheepdogs, the Shetland Sheepdog is very intelligent and very family oriented. In fact, they are so well behaved that they can even adapt to apartment life. If you want this to be an outdoor dog, then you are in luck. The Shetland Sheepdog actually has a very thick double coat. What gives this dog it's great look is the fact that the coat can come in many different colors. Sometimes the double coat is two different colors and it gives it a great look as well.
A good thing to know if you are wanting to purcahse Shetland Sheepdog puppies for sale or Shetland Sheepdog for sale is that they start out very smart, and they learn very quickly. Of course, the Shetland Sheepdog, as well as their puppies, are very vocal dogs, which could have something to do with why they are sheepdogs. Of course, the Shetland Sheepdog puppies will grow into a dog that has very little dog health problems. The only problems they are well known for is, of course, thyroid and hip dysplasia. These are actually problems that a lot of dogs get as they get older. These dogs are very easy to take care of and will love you as long as you love them. Now let's talk a little bit it more about their personalities.
When talking about the Shetland Sheepdog, you can not say enough good things about it. It's a very loyal dog, and it wants to please and obey you. This is one reason why this dog makes a good sheepdog. It's one of the few dogs that is actually helpful and can pretty much take care of itself. The Shetland Sheepdogs are also very affectionate with their families. This includes kids and adults. However, they do not like strangers very much. This does not mean that they will attack them, but they do tend to act very aloof. This is why a lot of people say that the Shetland Sheepdogs have a lot of shyness to them. Either way, they are very good with other family pets. Of course, you have to remember that this is a kind of herding dog, so it does tend to try and herd other animals besides sheep. Although other dogs usually get along with it, cats tend to hate this with a passion.
If you want a good family dog, then the Shetland Sheepdog is for you. It's great with children and, overall, it loves all other animals. Even if you do not have any sheep to herd, this is still a good dog for you to choose. Whether you have a big open yard for it to run around in or you live in a small house, this dog will do fine as long as you love it.
