Dog Treats

Dog treats are a delicious and fun way to reward your pet! But did you know that not all dog treats are created equal?

A trip to the dog treat section of your local pet store can be a daunting experience.  How do you know what to get? How do you know what your dog will like? More importantly, how do you know you're not feeding your beloved puppy the equivalent of junk food?

First of all, many commercial dog treats contain chemicals and fillers that even your dog may be ashamed to eat.  On the other hand, there are many healthy dog treats available that can be a yummy reward to your pup and help to keep them happy and fit.  Healthy dog treats can be found for dogs young and old.

Healthy dog treats, like other dog food, can be based on animal products.  Unlike average dog treats, however, healthy dog treats will often use higher quality and specifically targeted products, such as cage-free chicken breast and tripe, which contain good balances of healthy fatty acids and vitamins essential to your dog's well-being.

Healthy dog treats may even be vegetarian or vegan.  These treats are often made with whole grains, fruits, and vegetables.  These provide a healthy and animal-friendly alternative to average dog treats.

There are also hundreds of recipes out there for making your own homemade dog treats! Homemade dog treats give owners an opportunity to have fun and explore their creativity while making a delicious treat for their pet.  Homemade dog treats often include simple ingredients such as peanut butter, honey, potatoes, flour, apples, or bananas. The most important part is to match the treat itself with a proper dog diet.

Whether you buy healthy dog treats or make your own homemade dog treats, there are many ways to help your dog be happy and healthy.  So why not explore? Find out what dog treats are best for you and your dog, and have some fun!
