Male Dog Names
When choosing a name for your dog, any things goes but, there should be a few ground rules. Your dog may be the cutest little thing that's ever graced the earth, but if your dog is male, give him a masculine name! Sure, your dog may not know the difference, but ask yourself this: how would YOU feel if you were shackled with a wimpy moniker? Please - give your male doggie the respect he deserves. Choose a name that reflects his personality, his appearance, and, of course, the fact that he is a male! Exercise responsible pet ownership - select a name that your dog would be proud of!
Male Dog Names
TV and movie-themed names seem to be a popular choice for male dogs. Sci Fi enthusiasts have named their dogs Spock, Dr. Who, Jedi, Yoda, and Chewbacca (or, if you liked the film "The Matrix", you can also go with Neo, Tank, or Dozer). Maybe you're into James bond films. If that's the case, you may want to name your dog Dr. No, Q or 007. If your dog looks like a cowboy, name him Dirty Harry or Billy the Kid. If you prefer cartoons, Woodstock, Snoopy, Mickey and Aladdin are great options. Rambo is another popular movie-inspired name, perfect for your bulldog. And, of course, you can always name your dog after the famous film and television dogs that came before him, like Lassie, or Benji. Television and film provides endless possibilities for dog names. Just think about your favourite characters from past and present, and try to come up with a name that fits your pup's individuality.
Popular Male Dog Names
An online poll suggests that the top three male dog names are Max, Buddy and Bailey. Other popular male dog names are Jake and Duke. Many male dogs are named after sports (Quarterback or Pacer), politics (President or Ford) or members of royalty (Henry the 8th). Some dog owners like to use humour or irony when choosing a name - so tiny dogs become "Jaws" and friendly dogs become "Killers". Perhaps you want to base your dog's name on his appearance. If that's the case, then try a name like Spot or Patches.
Unique Male Dog Names
Male dogs tend to be more aggressive than females, so military-inspired names can be interesting and unique. Colonel, Ace, Captain, and Jet are excellent choices. Just like with female dogs, food is a great inspiration for names. If your dog has a bit of an attitude, give him a spicy name like Jambalaya, Cajun, Chili, Tandoori, or Pepper. If your dog is a bit of a bully, try naming him Butch or Boss.
Choosing a name for your dog is a great opportunity to flex your creative muscle. Try to pick something lighthearted and fun - and make sure it is something you won't mind using over and over again for years to come. The name you choose for your dog will be a reflection of his personality, and yours as well. And remember, your doggy loves and appreciates you. Keep that in mind when you're selecting his name!
