Search and Rescue Dogs
Wherever you live, search and rescue dogs may or may not be need. However, if you live in an area that needs search and rescue dogs, then you know just how important they are. A lot of people take search and rescue dogs for granted. They do not seem to remember that search and rescue dogs are saving lives all the time. One search and rescue dog can save tons of lives in its life time. These dogs go through a lot of search and rescue dog training, and the outcome is amazing. These dogs can do things that other dogs can not. However, how did they come up with search and rescue dogs? Why did they not come up with a search and rescue cat? Well, besides the fact that a cat would not be able to do much, there is a love between humans and dogs that goes back a long time. Dogs are some of the only animals on this planet that have an undying love for us, and they want to help us. People say that a search and rescue dog loves what it does. They say that the dog can tell when something is happening, and they get very excited and want to get out there right away to find the missing person.
Search and rescue dogs are great, because dogs love people. It's as simple as that! That is why we choose dogs as our search and rescue animal. However, what a lot of people do not know is how much training these dogs have to go through. After all, it's not like they are out there herding sheep. They are saving peoples' lives. Search and rescue dog training is so hard, because there is no room for error. Whenever a dog is out there looking for someone, they have just a small amount of time to find that person. Thus, these dogs have to work fast, and they know that they are on a time limit. In fact, it is said that if a search and rescue dog does not find a person when it is out there looking for one, it becomes sad. They feel like they have let someone down. Now that is a dog that is determined to help people.
A lot of people only think about a search and rescue dog being in areas of snow. However, this is not the case anymore. Sure these dogs still work in high areas of snow, but they also work in areas that have water as well. Many dogs have been trained to swim a long way and bring out live survivers. Although a lot of times the dogs can not pull people back to shore, they can usually keep the person up and breathing until someone gets there. Not only that, but the dogs can bark and let others know where the person is. There are many stories where there would be someone missing in the woods, and a dog will go out with a group of people to find her. A lot of times the dog would tell people where the girl was at. The dog would bark to tell everyone that something was wrong, and the dog did not even know what they were out there looking for. Dogs know when there is something wrong.
