The Briquet Griffon Vendeens were used for hunting and just for companionship. However, when World War II came about, these dogs were used in the army. They were used so much that they just about became extinct. For many years after the Briquet Griffon Vendeen breed was just barely holding on. In fact, it was such a rare breed that a lot of people figured that the breed was no more. Slowly the dog started to come back, thanks to a man named Hubert Dezamy, who helped to restore the breed. Although this dog can be hard to find still, it's well worth the look. You are not going to be able to find another dog that is able to please you like this dog can.
