The Dachshund is a breed of dog that is very short and very long. In fact, the name of this dog in German actually means the badger dog. Many people in the United States usually refer to this dog as the wiener dog. People have begun to keep Dachshunds as pets, because they are very playful and fun dogs. This dog breed is very loyal to it's owners and desires lots of socialization. Taking walks or runs, playing in the yard and cuddling up next to you under the blanket are all favorite activites of most Dachshunds. Often the onwers become loyal to the breed as much as the breed becomes loyal to its owners.
