A lot of people like to refer to the Great Dane breed as the
gentle giant. This has a lot to do with the fact that this breed
is so sweet and has such a gentle personality. Some people refer
to this breed as the Apollo of all breeds, and that is because
the Great Dane is one of the largest breeds in the world. No
matter what you call this breed, one thing is for sure, this is
one sweet breed. Great Danes have been known to be watch dogs
back in the past. However, they only remained watch dogs for a
few years, because they were too sweet to people. It is hard to
even train Great Danes to be watch dogs. They prefer not to hurt
anyone. Also, it's nice to note that the Great Dane breeds love
kids. In fact, these dogs have been known to keep kids out of
danger. Many stories about the Great Dane involve it picking up
little kids by the back of their shirts to take them away from
danger (like steps that they could fall down).
