The Harrier is a dog that a lot of people think looks like a beagle. However, as soon as you see a Harrier, you will notice that these dogs are a lot taller than beagles, they just have the same coat. For the most part, Harriers are pretty happy and playful dogs. They are a lot more sociable than the Foxhound, but a lot less sociable than a beagle. The Harriers are good with older children, because they do not like to be jumped on. They are friendly to most people they meet, but more than anything they love to be out on a trail. When they are out sniffing around, they are on cloud nine! These dogs love other dogs as well and work good in packs. Most people find that getting two Harriers is the best way to go. When you get two Harriers, they always have someone to play with, and this makes the dog very happy. The dog does need to run around and play everyday otherwise, just like most hounds, they become overweight.
