This is because the Irish Red and White Setters are dogs that love to play. When the Irish Red and White Setter first came about, it was used as a gun dog. However, now the Irish Red and White Setters are no longer used for that reason at all. In fact, these dogs are pretty much just companionship dogs, and that is fine with them. These dogs do tend to play a lot, and it can be hard to train them. They do need very firm training, but not harsh training. These dogs are great family dogs, but maybe not the best choice for a family that can be easily walked all over. If these dogs do not get the training that they need, they will walk all over you.
