The Kooikerhondje is a dog that is very territorial, and they love to bark at people that they do not know. That happens to be the worst part about the Kooikerhondje. This is a dog that can be trained not to bark, but it is hard to get it to that level for a first time dog owner. However, this is a very loyal dog and does make a good first time dog to own; they need a lot of work in the barking department. The greatest thing about these dogs is the fact that they will love you above all else. Another great thing about the Kooikerhondje dogs is the fact that they do miss you when you are gone, but they are not likely to chew anything up. If they do chew something up, that is very out of characteristic for this breed of dog. Most importantly, this is a dog that loves to play with kids. Just keep in mind that this is not a breed that happens to play very well with other dogs.
