The Leonberger breed came from Germany. This dog has been used for many things, but today the dog is a companionship dog through and through. This dog loves children and although they are a very big dog, they do not really need a large area to roam in and can be kept in a small house. The Leonbergers were used during World War II a lot, and they almost died off. However, after World War II people started to love these dogs and their numbers started to climb. These dogs are never aggressive, but if you find one that is, that is usually the result of improper training, meaning that you either have a dog that was trained wrong before you got it, or you trained it wrong yourself. Be sure to give these dogs the love and affection that they need. Otherwise, they do grow up to be a bit bitter and less loving, and that is very far from the norm when it comes to the Leonberger dogs personality.
