The Mastiff breed, also called the English Mastiff, is a very
large breed of dog. Although it is not as tall as the Great Dane,
this is a breed of dog that is very heavy set. It never gets as
tall as the Great Dane or the Irish Wolfhound, but it is larger
in body weight than both of them. The great thing about these
dogs, however, is that Mastiffs are very clam natured. Not only
that, but they are very affectionate to their masters. Of course,
unlike the Great Dane and the Irish Wolfhound, who are friendly
dogs to the bitter end, the Mastiff is a breed that is very
capable of protection. Although the dog does not just attack
random people, you can see that the dog is a guard dog by nature.
If someone approaches its master, the dog will position itself
between the stranger and the master, never letting the stranger
get too close. At this point, the person that is approaching has
a few seconds to back down before the Mastiff will let out a ear
breaking bark to make them back down.
