The Otterhound is not a breed of dog that is pretty to look at. It is a dog that is used for hunting so the outside coat of this dog is less than pleasing to keep indoors. It is a rough, oily coat that is actually double coated, meaning that they do shed, and a lot! Not only that, but this dog is made to swim so they do have web toes, however, that is something that is just interesting to note. However, do not let the look of this dog scare you away from getting one. Although they are not much to look at, they are a hound dog that is very kind and nice to people. If they are kept clean, and very clean, then they are a pretty good dogs inside. They have good energy levels, and they know when to turn it on and when to turn it off. Overall, this is a dog that can make a living for itself outside, but you can keep it indoors if you do not mind all of the shedding.
