History of the Canaan Dog

Originally bred from the wild dogs of Israel, the Canaan Dog has existed in the Middle East for centuries. Their name identifies them as the ancient inhabitants of Israel the Canaanites who lived about 3,000 years ago. The breed was first imported to the US when a man by the name of Dr. Rudolphina Menzel shipped four Canaan Dogs to our Western shores.
