The Barb is an extremely ancient breed although little is known about their exact origins. Great debate has taken place over the Barb or the Arabian dating back to a further point in history. The Barb has had great effect on many of today's horse breeds including the Thoroughbred where the Barb was one of the 3 founding stallions. This breed a small desert horse believed to be a direct ancestor to the Spanish horse.
