More About ...

Yorkshire Terriers

Commonly referred to as a Yorkie, an adult Yorkshire Terrier will weigh about seven pounds. Their coat is fine and silky, and does not shed. Daily brushing is recommended unless the coat is clipped short. They are quite lively, but because they are so small, their exercise need can be met with play. Yorkshire Terrier puppies are playful but love to be in a lap all day. They are intelligent and affectionate, tolerate older children and generally get along with other pets. They may be crossed with the Poodle to create the Yorkipoo, the Chihuahua to create the Yorkiehuahua, or other breeds to create other crosses.

Yorkshire Terrier Puppies for Sale: The Facts

Yorkshire Terrier puppies for sale? Think before you buy. There are two ways you can think about Yorkshire Terriers. You can either see the ‘Yorky’ as a delicate dog that’s made to be pampered, or as a vigorous little Terrier. The owners view very much decides the attitude of the dog, so there’s no reason why a Yorkshire Terrier shouldn’t be a perfect dog for your home and family.

The Yorkshire Terrier is a lively and inquisitive dog. While popular among the elderly, the Yorky is the perfect dog for a family with a small home, and who do not have time to go on long walks. Yorkshire Terriers love to snuggle up and pillow and on your lap. They’re what dog lovers call ‘lap dogs’.

Your Yorkshire Terrier must always stay on a leash. When playing in the backyard, he should be protected by sufficiently strong fences. Due to the small size and stature of the dog, they are simply no match for medium to large size dogs. The fence and leash are also important because Yorkshire Terriers are known for being eager to chase birds and butterflies, and could soon go missing!

With their high pitched yelp, Yorkies are not afraid to make you aware of visitors. It’s important that you socialize the dog from an early age so that barking does not become too common. This is a particular problem with many Yorkies.

Easy to train and accommodate, a Yorkshire Terrier is perfect for most homes. If you want a dog, start looking for Yorkshire Terrier puppies for sale.
