The Loveable and Cuddly Shih Tzu
There seems to be a rise in the amount of people owning Shih Tzu’s. You are constantly hearing about yet another person being the proud owner of a new Shih Tzu pup. They are definitely cute, but then again most pups are cute. So what’s so wonderful about these little dogs that make them so popular?
The benefits of Shih Tzu’s:
- They really love cuddle-time. All dogs love the approval and affection of their owners but not too many crave it like a Shih Tzu. They are not happy unless cuddled up with their owners. You won’t be able to take 5 steps without them being right on your heels reminding you they are there are awaiting cuddle-time. This is by far the main reason why people have fallen in love with the breed.
- They’ll take affection from wherever they can get it. They are lovers of all people, men, women, kids alike. It won’t matter if you’re the owner all that matters to a Shih Tzu is that you’re willing to cuddle with them and rub their bellies. So guests have no fear from a Shih Tzu.
- They’re extremely cute. Who can resist the cute “old man” type of face they have complimented by their long “goatee.” Of course no Shih Tzu is complete without the cute little bow in their hair.
- They are small. Because they are small they can live happily in an apartment or house. They generally will love the car, as long as they get to be with you.
- They assimilate with other types of animals well. Cats and Shih Tzu’s can be great friends. If your Shih Tzu can’t get enough attention from you then they are more than happy to turn to your cat, rabbit or whoever will give him the time of day.
Although they have many benefits there are some drawbacks to Shih Tzu’s. If you are expecting to keep their coat long then it takes hours, yes hours, of work to keep it clean, shiny and tangle free. They are very time consuming unless you keep their coat short. If they don’t have other pets in the house to keep them company when you are away some suffer serious separation anxiety. If you have the time and the love to spare Shih Tzu’s can be the perfect companion for you.
Fascination With the Shih-Tzu
The small breed wonder, the Shih Tzu, is a family favorite for many Americans. Many love the small breed because it is considered a hypo-allergenic breed, because it has hair instead of fur. It is a low shedding pet as well. Others just can’t stop but think these cute little balls of joy are tons of fun and loveable too. Many Shih Tzu puppies are fast paced and on the go, and other are laid back and are a true lap dog. Either way you see it these adorable little bundles have found a place I the heart of many Americans today.
