The Yorkipoo, or Yorkiepoo, has a life expectancy of 14 to 16 years.
The Yorkipoo is a hybrid dog first developed in America. The Yorkipoo is a mix of the Yorkshire Terrier and either the Toy Poodle or the Miniature Poodle.
The Yorkipoo weighs 6 to 12 pounds and measures 6 to 9 inches.
The Yorkipoo’s coat can be wavy, curly or straight depending on their parents. However, the Yorkipoo’s coat is nearly always soft, silky and no-to-low shedding. The Yorkipoo should be brushed daily, bathed occasionally and trimmed every six to eight weeks.
Like all dogs, the Yorkipoo also needs basic grooming. Brush their teeth, clean their ears and trim their nails on a regular basis.
The Yorkipoo is playful and confident.
The Yorkipoo grows quite attached to their family and craves attention from them. The Yorkipoo likes to be involved in everything their family is doing and will get their feelings hurt if left out. They have lots of energy and make great playmates. Yorkipoos are lively, but not hyper. They can be feisty when the mood strikes, but are most often sweet and affectionate.
The Yorkipoo is deeply devoted to their family and wants to protect them. Although small, the Yorkipoo makes an alert and vocal watchdog. They will bark if they sense anything or anyone out of place and will rush to defend their loved ones. Yorkipoos have a “big dog” mentality and will not back down if challenged.
The Yorkipoo is intelligent and eager to please, but can have the stubborn streak often found with the Yorkshire Terrier. The Yorkipoo responds best to positive reinforcement, especially in the form or praise and treats.
The Yorkipoo loves playtime, either inside or outside the house, but is not highly energetic or active. For their health, however, the Yorkipoo needs a brisk daily walk. They are quite fast and will also enjoy time at the dog park or another secure area to run around and play.
