Watching a dog suffer from hip dysplasia is tough. Most people assume the German shepherd is the breed that suffers most from this health problem, but this isn't exactly true. If you are considering adding a new pup to your family or are concerned your dog may be suffering from hip problems, here's a breakdown of the top 100 breeds suffering from this problem the most. The rank is based on evaluations performed from 1974 through 2009.
 
The following list starts with the dog breeds with the highest incident of hip dysplasia followed by the number of evaluations conducted and the percent of those evaluations where dysplasia was found. The breeds that suffer from the problem more than 20 percent of the time in the cited evalutaions are highlighted.

It also has to be said that dogs are individual creatures. Not every pug is going to suffer hip dysplasia and not every Siberian husky is going to avoid it. Make sure to get your dog check out regularly by a vet to keep them in the best health possible.
