More About ...

Lhasa apsos

A popular pet and show dog, an adult Lhasa Apso will weigh between 13 to 15 pounds. Their beautiful long coat needs daily brushing and combing to keep it in top condition. They love to play and enjoy walks. Because of their small size, their exercise needs can be met with short walks and even indoor play sessions. Lhasa Apso puppies need lots of attention. They don't do well if left alone, so are not recommended for two career families. They are independent, stubborn and bold, and prefer to be the only pet. They should get on well with older children.

Cool Lhasa apso Fact:

The first pair of American Lhasa Apso dogs were received by C. Suydarn Cutting as a gift from Dalai Larna in the early 1930s

Lhasa Apso Puppies for Sale: Tiny and Tough

The Lhasa Apso has been around for hundreds of years, but was known only to Tibetan Monks until about 1920. At that time, it first made an appearance in Britain and then in the US ten years later, as gifts from the 13th Dalai Lama. The holy men used Lhasas as watchdogs because of their incredibly protective nature. If you are thinking about Lhasa Apso puppies for sale, you can be sure that although they may be small, they will look after you.

As with all tiny dogs, the Lhasa Apso is prone to ‘Small Dog Syndrome’, which is actually the fault of the owners - not the dogs. Because they are so cute, it is easy to give in to their demands and allow them to rule the roost in a way that would be intolerable from a bigger dog. This can lead to them becoming possessive and aggressive and, therefore, not a good dog to have around children. To avoid this behavior, it is imperative that you understand the importance of the Alpha Canine, and make sure that is you. Being in control will also make your Lhasa a lot happier and not prone to things such as separation anxiety and other nervous disorders.

If you are thinking about Lhasa Apso puppies for sale, it has probably crossed your mind about how to look after their beautiful coats. It isn’t necessary to have it trimmed or stripped, although it will need to be brushed on a daily basis to avoid tangles and matting.
