Valley Bulldog  

The Valley Bulldog has a life expectancy of 10 to 12 years.

Origin
The Valley Bulldog is a cross of the English Boxer and Bulldog, and is believed to have been developed in the mid-1900s. The Valley Bulldog hails from the Annapolis Valley in Nova Scotia, Canada, and was bred to work on the farm and guard people and property.

Size
The Valley Bulldog weighs 40 to 80 pounds and measures 14 to 22 inches.

Grooming Needs
The Valley Bulldog has a smooth, close coat and is an average shedder. The Valley Bulldog should be brushed weekly and bathed occasionally. Although the Valley Bulldog does not need frequent bathing, they do need to have their faces wiped regularly as dirt and crumbs tend to build up in their wrinkles.

Like all dogs, the Valley Bulldog also needs basic grooming. Brush their teeth, clean their ears and trim their nails on a regular basis.  

Character
The Valley Bulldog is charming and protective.

Temperament
The Valley Bulldog is a playful clown with a deep devotion to their family. The Valley Bulldog loves spending time with their family, whether that involves throwing a ball around the backyard or laying low in the living room. The Valley Bulldog thrives on close contact and affection from their family. They especially adore children and can be quite gentle and calm around them.

The Valley Bulldog is highly loyal to their family and, as such, wants to watch out for them. The Valley Bulldog makes an effective watchdog. They are alert and will bark when something or someone seems out of place.

Training Needs
The Valley Bulldog is intelligent and responds well to training, but must have a confident leader. The Valley Bulldog tends to be dominant and will rule the household if given the opportunity. They respond best to firm, but gentle training and plenty of positive reinforcement.

As part of their training, the Valley Bulldog also needs early socialization. They are protective of their family and need help learning the difference between welcome and unwelcome visitors.

Activity Level
The Valley Bulldog thrives on vigorous exercise and has a natural athleticism. The Valley Bulldog needs a long daily walk, but can also make a great jogging partner. They also need lots of time outside in a secure area to run around and play games.
