Hero Dog Awards

Hero Dog Awards

The American Humane Association Hero Dog Awards recognizes remarkable pooches annually. As a national competition, it celebrates the genuine relationship connecting dogs and people. Most dogs easily bond with mankind, but an exceptional few go above and beyond to provide support and protection. Even fewer are recognized by the great deeds that they do. That is where the Hero Dog Awards come into play. The first round of voting is complete, but do not despair. There will be more opportunities to cast your vote before the ceremony on October 5, 2013 in Los Angeles.

Categories
Eight categories of heroic hounds are recognized: Law Enforcement & Arson Dogs; Service Dogs; Therapy Dogs; Military Dogs; Guide Dogs; Search and Rescue Dogs; Hearing Dogs; and Emerging Hero Dogs (ordinary dogs who do extraordinary things or are our personal heroes).

Voting
American votes for the finalists in each round online until there are eight finalists. A celebrity judging panel will choose the top American Hero Dog of 2013. Each of the eight finalists will receive a Hero Dog award for their feats of loyalty, bravery, and love, and be awarded $1500 to give to a selected charity partner of the awards. The charity partners are listed on the Hero Dog Awards website. Only one dog can win the top spot of American Hero Dog and that dog will receive top honors in addition to another $5000 for their charity partner.
